Our Stage 2 Science curriculum is designed for children aged 8 to 10 in Grades 3 and 4, building on foundational knowledge while encouraging deeper scientific thinking, inquiry and responsibility. It aligns with the Australian Curriculum, giving parents and educators confidence that all required outcomes for this stage are thoroughly covered, while remaining firmly grounded in Islamic values. Whether you are meeting homeschooling requirements or simply want assurance that your child is receiving a complete and well-structured program, this curriculum offers academic rigour alongside meaningful reflection on Allah’s creation.
The curriculum consists of 7 books and a total of 80 lessons, designed to be taught once per week over two years, making it a complete Stage 2 program.
Included Books
Book 1: The Earth, Sun and Moon
Students explore patterns and movements in the universe, including day and night, the phases of the moon, shadows, tides and timekeeping, reflecting on the balance Allah has placed in the heavens.
Book 2: Plant Design and Diversity
Children study plant structures, growth, reproduction and adaptations, learning how plants thrive in different environments and recognising plants as signs of Allah’s careful design.
Book 3: Animals – Structures and Survival
This book explores animal classification, adaptations and food chains, while emphasising kindness, balance and human responsibility towards animals through Qur’an and Sunnah.
Book 4: The Human Body Systems and Health
Students learn about major body systems, healthy living and Islamic guidance on caring for the body, understanding that their bodies are an amanah from Allah.
Book 5: Materials and Their Uses
Children investigate natural and processed materials, their properties, changes and uses, while reflecting on gratitude and responsible use of Earth’s resources.
Book 6: Energy and Change
This unit introduces different forms and sources of energy, including light, heat, sound and movement, with a focus on wise use and recognising Allah’s signs in creation.
Book 7: Our Changing Planet
Students explore landforms, rocks, soil, weathering, erosion and natural disasters, examining how the Earth changes over time and how humans can adapt and care for the planet as khalifah.
Together, these books provide a balanced, engaging and faith-centred science education that supports both academic growth and spiritual reflection.
Please note that this curriculum is separate from our individual unit studies. Our unit studies explore one topic in great depth, while this curriculum guides children through all required topics in a more general, step-by-step way. You can use the unit studies as optional extras to dive deeper into specific themes you meet in the curriculum.
